As a kid UNSOLVED MYSTERIES was more scare to me than any wondrous movie I had ever seen. What truly made the show chiIIing was that all of the featured stories were true, and many dangerous suspects remained at large.  Running from 1987 to 2010, the series focused on missing person’s cases, unsolved assassinate and unexplained paranormal phenomena. The show changed hosts throughout the years, but it was the late Robert Stack who made the series what it was in the late eighties and early nineties.

Stack’s undeniably creepy presence and haunting voice set the mood, and helped to create a sense of uneasiness before the stories were even told. The distinct, eerie theme music would hit as a dark scenario was re-enacted for the audience, and suddenly the viewer was no longer safe in their own home. The show helped create an atmosphere where everything seemed to be playing out in real time, and it created an overwhelming sense of dread that could drown you in your living room.
